Why Do We Prefer Twitter Over Facebook?

on May 30, 2015

In early February of 2015, Google and Twitter struck a deal to make tweets more searchable online. Tweets will now start to be more visible in Google’s search results as soon as they are posted.

Google and Twitter

This deal is now giving Google access to Twitter’s firehose, the stream of data generated by Twitter’s 284 million users.

Prior to this deal, Google had to crawl Twitter’s site for the information and search through the billions of tweets posted per day.

But now with the easier access to Twitter’s firehose, Google has an even bigger reason to display tweets on search engine result pages.

Which should give you an even bigger reason to get more active on Twitter.

People ask us all the time why we haven’t integrated Facebook on our social media management module yet and the answer is quite simple.

We looked at all the various social media venues and prioritized which platform will help our users drive in more traffic and target potential leads.

At the time of this writing, currently TieiT is integrated with Twitter. And we get asked all the time why Facebook is not connected in TieiT.

Twitter vs Facebook

Facebook is great if you are a large brand that gains Likes naturally. But if you are a smaller company, you are forced to pay for advertising and pay to increase the likelihood of your posts being seen.

Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with your past school friends and co-workers or posting your family pictures and liking others pictures. Or you can participate in the many groups on a personal level, but everything I mentioned is what is wrong with Facebook for businesses.

Facebook has become entirely too personal.

Even creating a business page is far too difficult as you must link it to a personal page. What if a business owner wants to keep their personal and business life completely separate? How many profiles will one person create and have to manage?

With TieiT’s Twitter stream module, you can now target leads and potential customers in a specified geographic area to target more local traffic that are typing specific keywords. How does this help you?

Well first off, it saves you the many hours one can sit and spend on Twitter just browsing through the different feeds.

And secondly, this streaming option can be automated so TieiT will reach out and grab your leads for you.

With the latest Google and Twitter partnership, it has and will become far more valuable for your business to make a mark on Twitter as part of your on-going marketing efforts.

By being consistent, staying engaged and learning how to use the system to enhance your business’s online presence, you will be able to maximize your reach by improving the chances of your business being seen on both Twitter and Google in the coming few months.

To date, Google is still researching a way to effectively post live tweets on their search engine result pages. But when they do, you want to make sure your business is ready for it instead of trying to catch up with the rest of the online social world.
